HOW TO USE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER BARS
A lot of people ask how to use the solid shampoo bars and conditioner bars! Switching from bottled, liquid product to a solid bar is a little strange at first... But it’s actually quite simple!
Here’s a step-by-step guide to using the Unwrapped Life shampoo bars and conditioner bars:
STEP 1: WET HAIR
Hop in the shower and wet hair as usual. The wetter the better!
STEP TWO: APPLY SHAMPOO BAR
Hold the shampoo bar in the palm of one hand and apply it directly to your head, starting at your scalp near your forehead. Work the bar in small circular motions back towards the base of your neck to create a gentle lather. Swipe the bar along the sides of your head, by your ears, to apply the shampoo evenly. For longer hair, you may want to lift your hair off your neck and apply the bar to the back of your head using small circular motions, getting enough product on the underside of your hair.
3) LATHER UP SHAMPOO BAR
Put shampoo bar down on a soap dish with drainage and, using your fingers, work the lather through the roots of your hair with a massaging motion. Run your hands down the length of your hair to cleanse from your scalp to the tips of your locks.
4) RINSE SHAMPOO BAR
Ensure you rinse your hair well under running water to remove all traces of the shampoo.
5) REPEAT AS NECESSARY
For particularly greasy or dirty hair, or if you just want an extra deep clean, repeat steps 1 through 4 to ensure you’ve removed all traces of build up!
6) APPLY CONDITIONER BAR
Pick up the conditioner bar and hold it in the palm of one hand. Run the bar along your hair starting from your temple back towards the nape of your neck ensuring you cover your hair from ear to ear.
For long hair, lift hair off neck and work the conditioner bar in circular motions at the back of your head. Pull hair over one shoulder, hold in one hand and use the other hand to run the conditioner bar down the length of your hair, focusing on the ends. Massage hair from root to tip to work product into strands. Leave conditioner on hair for 1-2 minutes for maximum effectiveness.
7) RINSE CONDITIONER BAR
Our conditioner bars are water-activated, which means you likely won’t feel the slip of the conditioner bar in step 6 (unless your hair is particularly wet when you apply the bar).
Put your conditioner bar on a soap dish with drainage, then put your head under running water and run hands through hair. At this time, you should feel the slip of the conditioner in your hair.
8) REPEAT AS NECESSARY
Repeat steps 6 and 7 as necessary to ensure you have adequately conditioned the hair.
CONDITIONER BAR TIPS:
- Depending on the texture of your hair (fine and tangly or dry and coarse), you may not want to fully rinse out the conditioner. The conditioner bar makes a great leave in treatment and won’t result in greasy or heavy hair!
- For those with long hair, you may want to use a wet brush after the first conditioner application to distribute the product through your strands and get a headstart on detangling your hair.
9) TOWEL DRY HAIR
After showering, gently towel dry hair prior to brushing.
10) COMB HAIR OUT
When hair is damp dry, use a comb to comb out your hair
If you feel your hair is still a bit tangly, you can wet hands and use a bit of extra conditioner on matted areas.
It's not hard to master this technique and be on your way to having a fully zero-waste shower routine!
Love, love, love the shampoo & conditioning bars. Much easier to get used to then I thought!!
